What Is The Treatment For Injured Tail Bone After Minor Accident?
Dear Doctor, My wife met with an minor accident and she fell and got her tail bone injured. She is feeling problem while sitting or getting up with severe pain in the region. what treatment is possible for such injury. The tailbone is not fractured though. thanks Akhilesh
Tail bone ( also called coccyx ) is the most commonly injury when there is a direct impact to this bone. Even if the bone is not fractured , there may be inflammation in that area which takes time to heal. Even if there is no fracture , it may cause coccydynia , which causes pain and this takes time to heal.
TREATMENT:
1) Sit on cushion / tyre ( since hollow in centre, avoids any contact of that part with the floor ).Hence the patient can sit comfortably. 2)Complete rest. 3)Analgesics like T. Hifenac-MR 1-0-1 for 10 days. IT TAKES ABOUT 6 weeks .
