Suggest Treatment For Severe Shingles In An Elderly Lady
My mother is 84 years old always been very healthy and never taken any medication. She was put on Gabapentin 300 mg. She has a severe case of shingles. She is in soo much pain. It is terrible. She s now depressed. Forgetfull. It is just terrible
Shingles is caused by varicell zoster virus infection. Take proper treatment under advise of dermatologist.
Following treatment will help you: Anti viral medication: Acyclovir, will help to recurrence. You can use following Topical treatment- Neosporine ointment- Calamine lotion and Capsaicin cream. For pain you can ask for following pain medication: Antidepressant like Amitryptaline. Topical anesthetic: Benzocaine or lidocaine, Opioids and caffeine can be used. Wet compression also helpful.
