I had shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago. Repaired tears (cut) and did laproscopic procedure on rotator cuff. Sent home with hydrocodone/acetaminophen. Excruciating pain, called Dr., 4x, said no stronger med could be prescribed. Advised taking hydrocodone/acetaminophen and 800 mg. ibprofen. Nothing helped. Am now almost 2 weeks out of surgery and managing pain (don t want narcotics now). I feel this Dr. did patient harm by not applying correct medical procedures to adequately care for patient. I had other shoulder done with laproscopic techniques 2 years ago. I did well with PT and recovered nicely. But no cutting was part of procedure. Now both shoulders are painful which I can work with in PT. Still very painful which I think is part of recovery process. Problem is, I think Dr. is guilty of malpractice and did not live up to his contract to do no harm. If he can t tx pt in outpatient setting, then he should take steps to tx appropriately. I understand that he is likely under pressure by governing agencies to control prescription of narcotics. But he is likely using his patients to fight pressures re inappropriate narcotic prescription. No matter what he is financially fighting, I suffered greatly and in my mind unnecessarily.
