Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was just diagnosed and the doctor said I need a surgery.what happened if i chose not to? Multilevel degenerative changes as above, worst at L4-5 where there is severe spinal stenosis related to anterolisthesis, disc bulging and severe facet arthropathy. There appears to be a small synovial cyst and possibly an adjacent osteophyte along the medial aspect of the left facet joint which contributes to spinal stenosis. Also not sure about the surgeon ,he finished his residency last year
Spinal stenosis is commonly treated with medication, both over-the-counter and prescription. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) reduce pain and inflammation.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Dr Monish De, Oncologist
