Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a vaginal infection. I have seen a gynacologist and when I asked her the cause, she used some very big medical words (she is foreign and speaks with a heavy accent) I asked her to tell me in language I could understand. She did not. She gave me an antibiotic shot, and two weeks worth of antibiotics to take twie a day. She did a biopsy which I won t have the results of for a week. She told me my vagina was full of puss and she could see blood. This is the first time in 80 years that I have ever been to a gynacologist. I am 80 years old and a widow f 15 years, so I am not sexually active and I quit having periods when I was 51 years old. About 5 months ago, my doctor of 35 years had me start taking baby aspirin ( 1 a day ) and also Vitamin D-3. So what would cause this kind of infection? The bleeding has stopped since the day after she did the exam and gave me the antibiotic shot. Do you have any explanation for me?
The possible causes are yeast and bacterial vaginosis. Consult a gynaecologist and plan for a vaginal swab. As of now, you can use Clotrimazole lotion to cleanse your genitals.
