I have had shingles for over 3 weeks ,a lot of pain but rash was not bad just itchy. Finished course of Valacicovir tabs and itch and pain were better. But still felt weak and yesterday had a big shock which made me fell sick . Then last night the itch and pain started again ,do I need to see doctor again or just manage pain and itch again.
Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concern. It takes time of 2-4 weeks to recover if not otherwise. you must complete your antiviral therapy and take care of few things, like- keeping the rash as clean and dry as possible – this will reduce the risk of the rash becoming infected with bacteria wearing loose-fitting clothing – this may help you feel more comfortable not using topical (rub-on) antibiotics or adhesive dressings such as plasters – this can slow down the healing process using a non-adherent dressing (a dressing that will not stick to the rash) if you need to cover the blisters – this avoids passing the virus to anyone else Calamine lotion has a soothing, cooling effect on the skin and can be used to relieve the itching.
