Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a skin rash. The doctor took a quick look from a foot away and told me it was shingles. I was never tested for it. I have many allergies. I took a sliver of Valtrex and now I have a lump in my groin. I have had this rash show up before on my left arm about 6 spots on the inner arm. Not it s on my left side above my hip about 30 spots. It burns like hell and there is clear fluid with a hole if picked. Then it scabs over sort of a purplish scab. No crusty anything. Is this really what shingles is? And what is this lump all of a sudden in my groin?
if you had chickenpox once in your life chickenpox virus which is called varicella zoster will remain in your body lifelong inactivertly . but occasionally this virus can reactivate along the pathway of a nerve in your body specially when your immunity has reduced such as getting old or you have diabetics. when it is reactive it appears as painful fluid filled blisters along the pathway of a nerve. this is called shingles. you will be treart with a drug called aciclovior 800mg 5 times a day for 5 days. you may also apply aciclovior cream . if it is really painful you can have gabapentin or pregabalin to reduce your pain. your scrotal lump most probably a swollen lymph node, may be due to spread of a secondary bacterial infection from blisters.
