Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Have been prescribed augmentin for sinus and tooth infection. Got ill, thinking it a stomach bug..with vomiting and diarrhea. Went on trip, forgot augmenting at home..still had a little diarrhea.. Got over that.. Got home, stated back on augmentin...now vomiting again..
Hello and welcome to HCM, Augmentin antibiotic is associated with gastrointestinal tract (GIT) upset. It can cause gastric upset, diarrhea and vomiting. Augmentin should be accompanied by lactobacillus preparation. Antibiotics have a deleterious effect on the bacteria present in the gut. Thus, addition of lactobacillus preparation will replace the gut and thus prevent diarhhea and vomiting.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Ouri
