Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Social anxiety disorder usually cause significant distress to patients. In most cases associated familial distress is found in patients of social anxiety disorder. In most cases patients are given antidepressants as SSRIs for treatment. Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Sertraline etc are commonly used in depression associated with social anxiety. Apart from this for severe anxiety provoking situations medicines like Propranolol etc are used. These medicines can be used on SOS basis for anxiety.
Apart from this Behaviour therapy can help to control these symptoms. Relaxation exercises help to reduce the symptoms of severe anxiety and result in improvement. Hypnotherapy can help but this would take a lot of time and patience. Visit a doctor for help.
Thanks, Take care Dr. Seikhoo Bishnoi
