Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat Along With Swollen Glands And Neck

I have had a reoccuring sore throat for the last 6 weeks. Then my jaw and ears started to ache. My glands were swollen and my doctor prescribed voltarol Retard 50mg which I took for 2 weeks with mild success. Now, however , the sore jaw / cheekbones have returned and my neck is swollen on the right, lower neck side. It makes it difficult to swallow and cause severe headaches. What can I do or take for this?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi.

Noted your history of recurrent sore throat for the last 6 weeks, pain in jaw and neck, swollen lymph nodes, Taken Voltarol Retard 50, now swollen right neck, painful swallowing and headache.
Your history of multiple problems is suggestive of an infection that need antibiotics also and which seems to be not taken as you have mentioned only Voltarol Retard
I would advise you the following:
Consult your Doctor for clinical evaluation and examination.
Investigations of blood, particularly for WBC, blood culture and sensitivity, thyroid functions, sugar for diabetes and so on.
CT scan of sinuses may help to find the primary reasons.
This allows the treatment of primary cause and its effects also.
Swollen glands need to investigated by Ultrasound and FNAC to rule out cancer or so.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
