HI. My throat has been red and sore for the past 4 or 5 days, worst when I wake up. I use to get strep throat all the time as a child so am sure its not that, and generally my nasal drainage doesn't cause the same problems. There is one small white patch on my right tonsil. The main concern I have is that my uvula is progressively more swollen, now touching my tongue and the end of it now seems to have two heads/ends instead of one smooth point. There also is a lumpy look at the top left side of it. Should I go in to see a doctor at an office or is it more thann likely just an odd drainage problem I can take care of by gargling with salt water??
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query. The soreness in the uvula, throat and the white spots over the tonsil can be because of the bacterial infection and tonsillitis. Nothing to be panic, consult an ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. mean while you can take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin and metronidazole (if you are not allergic). Do saline gargling. I hope I have answered your query. Take care.
