Suggest Treatment For Sore Tongue While Having Sinus Infection
Six days ago I began a regiment of amos-clav 875-125mg for a sinus infection. For the last 3 days my tongue has been sore and red. Certain foods bother it more but mostly eating at all is irritating. Could it be an allergic reaction and I should take another antibiotic?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain it seems that you have Inflammation of mucosa inside mouth leading to Apthous Stomatitis and it is causing pain and burning and it is due to side effects of the antibiotic that you are taking.. You need not to worry as gradually the symptoms will subside when antibiotic intake will stop.. As of now you can gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain and burning.. Take Anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen.. Sucking ice and cold water rinses can relieve.. Take Multivitamin supplements.. Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water.. Maintain a good Oral hygiene.. In case if symptoms worsen consult your treating physician and he can reduce the dose of medicine or change the antibiotic..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
