Suggest Treatment For Spotting And Abdominal Cramps

I am a 48 year old post menopausal woman. Today i experienced some spotting and have been feeling cramps all day. i am very concerned with what i am reading on the internet. i also experienced a little bit of spotting after intercourse the other day. is this a cause of extreme concern?

Hi,

Spotting after menopause can happen due to dry vagina and most of the time is not worrisome. Still it is important though to rule out some other conditions that might need medical attention. You will need to have a pap smear if you have not had one in the last 2-3 years and a transvaginal ultrasound.
If no abnormalities are found then mucosal atrophy may be the case and taking some local treatment with estrogen might improve the symptoms and make you feel better.
