Hi, I got a pretty bad sunburn on my face and after the plane ride back home, my forehead started to swell. It's mostly swollen between the eyebrows and just at the start of my nose. I've been applying aloe and lotion and drinking a lot of water. I dont have a problem with vision and I dont have a headache. What else should I do?
I completely understand your concern for sun burn. It appears from your query that you are suffering from sun burn of quite higher side.
In my patients I prefer to give an antihistamine such as levocetrizine for 2-3 times as updosing in a day for immediate relief. Application of mild steroid lotion helps in reducing the burning sensation.
If you are not getting better or the problems are increasing in 24 hours then can take a proper medical suggestion from your treating doctor.
I also suggest you to do sun protection strictly. I also recommend you rink plenty of liquids so that proper hydration can be maintained. In my patients with your condition I recommend them to use an antihistaminic tablet such as loratadine which is non-sedating one or cetrizine at night time.
You can obtain further direction from your treating dermatologist. All the best.
Hi ...thanks for sharing your problem here in this forum...
You got sunburn....the inflammation due to the burn cause oedema and swelling specially the loose tissues of the face....dont worry...just wash the burnt area...do apply antibiotic with steroid ointment...use anti inflammatry ibuprofen twice a day...antiallergic fexofenadine 60 mg twice a day...if swelling is there use icepacks wrapped in gauze and apply it to the face to reduce it...hope it will be fine in a week...do use sunblock when healing occured....thanks Dr ihsan
