Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain On The Knees With Hypertension

age-62,weight88 kg,height 5 feet 8 inch.i have hypertension for the last 25 years. I get pain in my knee, never in both at atime. The knee swells, it becomes hot. i become bedridden because neither I can foild my legs nor stand erect. generally these symptoms continued for 3-4 days earlier, but now the pain starts in one of the toes, generally left with swelling and burning causing unbearable pain whichg is reduced only when i take nimesulide with paracetamol. is it a case for physician or orthopaedic?

Hello,

I can understand your concerns. It looks from your details that reason for pain at knee is presence of early arthritis which is causing inflammation and swelling at your knee. For this a orthopedic doctor will be able to help you. Burning pain and swelling at legs may be due to your high blood pressure.

At early stage arthritis is treatable by exercises and medicines. Doing warm fomentation with help of water bag will help in relieving pain. There are some medicines like glucosamine, chondroitin and collagen supplements which are also helpful in early stage of arthritis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mukesh Tiwari, Orthopedic Surgeon
