Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Red Patches On Lower Legs And Tiredness

My lower legs were swollen but the swelling is gone down but now I have very bright red patches on the lower legs that are warm to the touch. What is this. Cut the grass and got very tired but did not think I got this overworked. I am 73 and I have had this happen before and it lasts a few days to a week or so and then goes away. Asked a Dr one day when he saw the red patches and he did not know the answer. Believe it is blood that has come from strained capillaries. Thanks for any assistance.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Very bright red patches - cannot be bleeding under the skin. They are usually maroon or darker red or sometimes brownish. such bright red patches along with warmthness along with swollen leg is highly suggestive of cellulitis, especially in elderly people. Therefore it is better to have a doctor clinically evaluate you to rule out cellulitis (Infection of the sub-cutaneous tissues)
