Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Elbow Due To Bursitis

i make it quick, if i came to you a doctor and showed my swollen elbow case of swelbow, swollen bursitis with no distinguish marking ie red spots etc. would you recommend cutting elbow open and surgery? as i did not know as much as i do now reading about it through advice on internet. i am away on holiday now and is happening process of waiting for stitches out and there is no change in swelling. i am using an ice pack on me now. but is all the cutting me up very important? they havent told me anything yet in nearly two weeks on test etc as due in on saturday for the stitches to be removed. but i am not happy :(
