Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My left ankle is quite swollen and the right somewhat. I have been taking Losartan 50 mg, but due to a change in doctors have not been able to get a refill for about 3 weeks. Don t know if that is the cause. I have AFib and have been taking 2 other blood pressure medicines for that. My leg just started being swollen on Friday night.
Yes, this might be the reason. You are a hypertensive patient with atrial fibrillation. So medicines are very important to control heart rate and blood pressure.
Since you are not taking any medication since 2 - 3 weeks, cardiac complications likely occur and caused this swelling in the ankle.
So better to consult cardiologist as soon as possible and start your medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Kaushal Bhavsar, Pulmonologist
