I have had gout in my middle toe on right foot for about 2 months. The toe became swollen a week after I d had a cortisone shot in my knee. I was tested for gout at the onset of the swelling by my GP, but the blood test showed that I didn t have it. I went to a foot surgeon, and he said it was from my big toe and second toe crowding the middle one. He recommended shock wave therapy on the middle toe. The pain was unbearable during shockwave treatments, but I had 3 anyway, because he said it would take at least 3 to see a difference. I didn t see any difference, stopped the treatments, and went to a DPM, who had me get another blood test. It did show a high level of ulric acid. He also had me get an MRI of the foot. It showed gout in that toe, and other toes and ankle as well. The DPM put me on indomethacin, 50mg twice a day. When I finished the pills, the toe was still swollen. He then changed me to a methylprednilisone dose Pack and put me on suldinac, 200 mg twice a day. I have 2 days left of those pills. To make a long story short, my toe still hurts and is still swollen like a fat Vienna sausage. Now my knee is totally messed up because of walking weird. Don t know what to do next.
