I was hurt in a fall , I only hit my ribs just around my left breast and my right arm. The impact of the fall was to my right arm which has a 7 inch long bruise but my rib area has absolutely no bruising and the pain is VERY INTENSE,I don t want to cough, sneeze, moved etc. even if I broke a rib. Or 2 why is this unbearable pain happening n should I be worried About this and what do I use heat or ice n last but not least why no bruise there B
Hello I have gone through your question and understand your concern. Intense pain in rib after injury can be caused by fracture of rib as pain is getting worse on coughing that happens because ribs move with diaphragm while breathing, coughing and fracture can only be seen on a X-ray. It is always better to consult a doctor after injury if pain instensity is high. If fracture of rib or ribs is confirmed on X-ray you will be expected to wear a support or brace over the rib cage to ensure immobilisation of ribs to fasten the healing process. Hope your concern is answered. Thank you.
