Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Shin

I slipped going up the stairs about a week ago. My shin became swollen immediately and was in pain but I was still able to walk. I iced and elevated the leg. Some bruising started at the site of injury and is down trailing down to my ankle. Should I be worried?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that due to fall there has been injury to the soft tissues leading to inflammation and swelling..
Bruising is due to ruptured blood vessels leading to accumulation of blood into the soft tissues causing Hematoma formation and bruising..
I would suggest you to do cool compresses over the swelling , apply Heparin gel to fade off the bruising..
For pain Apply Analgesic gel containing Diclofenac..
Keep elevating your leg for reducing swelling..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
