Suggest Treatment For Swollen Cheeks After Wisdom Teeth Removal

My girlfriend just had her wisdom teeth removed two days ago and her cheeks are swollen. One side is noticeably more swollen than the other, she said the vein or whatever is really swelling and tender also on that side. Just wondering if there's anything I can do to help or even why the one side is more swollen.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC...

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swollen cheek after wisdom tooth removal is not an abnormal finding and the swelling can last for about a week after extraction with gradual regression..
It happens due to inflammation that occurs after any surgical procedure and it is a normal course following surgery and is not abnormal..
I would suggest you to give her anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Doing cool compresses over the swelling will help in reducing swelling and pain..
Doing warm saline gargles will help..
Take soft diet with more of fluids..
In case if there is excessive swelling and pain a steroid and a painkiller injection will help in faster relief..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
