Suggest Treatment For Swollen Ganglion Cyst

I have an appointment to see a doctor--but can t get in for 3 weeks. I have a ganglion cyst on the top of my wrist (diagnosed 6+ years ago). It is hurting and a little swollen. Is there anything I can do to help until I can see a dr. I have started taking motrin for pain.

Hello my friend
Thanks for your question on HCM

It is not a problem using Motrin ,MOTRIN (ibuprofen) tablets are indicated for relief of mild to moderate pain. But you can resolve your problem only by your doctor.
Your doctor will suck out (aspirate) the fluid with a needle and syringe. If the jelly-like fluid is very thick this may not work. Also, if it does work, there is a chance that the cyst will recur, as the wall of the cyst is not removed, and the fluid may form again to refill the ganglion. However, in some people it cures the problem. As it is quite easy for a doctor to do, this is often attempted first.
Surgical removal of the ganglion is the most successful cure. This is a relatively minor operation. This is the treatment that is most likely to be permanent. However, in some cases after a ganglion is removed, one recurs again at the same site.

Hope this information is helpful to you
Best regards
