Suggest Treatment For Swollen Hands For A 90 Year Old Man

My 90 year old fathers hands have swollen up. He went to urgent care and they xrayed them but could not fi Find a reason for them to swell. He went to his primary care dr today and the dr gave him something to bring down the swelling. This afternoon he is having problems catching his breath. He told me that happens from time to time. I want to add this is a very physically active man. He just finished painting the outside of the house

Hello,

Swelling involving hands after finishing painting outside of the house, might be related to cellulitis from over exertion or particular positional pressure over wrists most likely.
- Elevation of hands in arm sling support
- Anti inflammatory medicines with serratiopeptidase content
- Local application of ice
- Discuss the need of systemic antibiotics as fluoroquinolones or penicillin for prevention of secondary bacterial infection or abscess formation
