My son has had a swollen lymph node (neck) for over 2 months now. He just recently gotten over a strep throat. Is it normal for lymph node to still be swollen? Thanks,
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain swollen lymph nodes in neck after a bout of throat infection is not an abnormal finding and many a times it takes a longer time for the lymph nodes to regress in size as compared to the subsiding of infection.. As he has recently been over from a strep throat that is bacterial infection of the throat, it can be a Reactionary Lymphadenitis due to infection.. In case if the swelling of lymph nodes does not subside then a Biopsy has to be done to confirm the exact cause of the swollen lymph nodes and can be treated accordingly.. As of now do warm compresses over the lymph nodes as it can help in improvement..
Hope this information helps..
