Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes And Fungal Infection On The Neck

Hello , I have had swollen lymph nodes for a year now almost , they started out in the start of June and I had a pain in one side of the throat . The doctor ordered for an Ultrasound and the results were cervical lymphodenapathy And swelling of 5mm and 4mm . I have had no symptoms whatsoever , however I have lost some amount of weight during exams times and I had acid reflux problem and I think i lost weight because of that . The problem here is that a few days ago I found a small lymph node in my collarbone . It s really small almost insignificant and you really have to dig in to feel it . I had gone to another doctor who also dismissed my concerns. Also I forgot to add that I had a fungal infection on my neck a month after these nodes started to pop up . I want to press for a biopsy but my mom says that I m completely okay and i shouldn t do anything . I m 16 and i weigh 119 pounds .

Hi,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that lymph nodes could be related to the fungal infection.

Anyway, I would recommend performing further tests to investigate the possible underlying causes:
- Complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.
- EBV antibodies.
- Biopsy of the lymph node (which is not a very invasive test).

You should discuss with your doctor on these tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka,
