Suggest Treatment For Swollen Prostate For A 31-year-old

I have had problems with swollen/enlarged prostate for years. It seems to come and go and Tamsulosin is only somewhat helpful but at times it doesn t seem like it works well at all. Is there anything to do when I am experiencing an episode to help reduce the swelling? 31 years old 5 8 220 lbs.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It's too early to experience prostate hypertrophy symptoms. Other possibilities like stricture should be ruled out. Micturition studies, as well as ultrasound with residual urine volumes may be helpful. Ultrasound or CT KUB can be repeated but PSA levels should be kept in check to look for any tendencies towards malignancy. In such young age, if Medical therapy isn't helping, and in absence of any other co morbid diseases it's better to get surgical excision done with minimally invasive surgeries like TURBt etc., and for that urologist review is recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
