Suggest Treatment For Swollen Salivary Gland

Hello, I had a cold last week, and had a cold sore, which I rinsed with Sterisol 3 days ago. The cold is mostly gone, but I have a swollen salivary (parotid) on the left side of my face which gets worse when I eat. Any thoughts what it is or what I should do next? It's not severly swollen, but swollen enough.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that swollen Parotid gland in which the swelling worsen during eating seems to be most probably due to obstruction in the duct of the salivary gland which can be due to either any foreign body obstructing the duct orifice or formation of stones in the duct of the gland..
Due to this there is resistance in flow of saliva from gland to mouth and it back flow into the gland..
As salivation is more during meals swelling is more pronounced
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and an x Ray or MRI of the gland can be diagnostic..
In case of superficial stone manual palpating and pushing the stone towards the duct of gland can help..
In case of deeper stones surgical removal is advisable..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
