Suggest Treatment For Swollen, Stiff, Weak And Painful Right Leg

Hello, My baby taking phenobarbital when she was 4 months old due to seizure.Doctor advice to continue phenobarbital upto 2 yrs.The course will be complete next May 2016.She is 2.5 yrs old but only speak continuously mum mum and various words but meaningless.Last time we visited with a Neurologist and advise for CT Scan.Her CT Scan report is normal.Doctor adviced Encephebol syrup and catapress 0.1mg.Whats the cause for speech delay?Please advice.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen, stiff, weak and painful right leg . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like peripheral neuropathy , hypertension , vitamin B12 deficiency , kidney disease or venous insufficiency . There can be other problems also like compressed nerve or injury . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan or x-ray along with blood test and nerve conduction test . Doctor may also refer you to nephrologist for kidney problem .For now keep your legs in hot water tub with Epsom salt for 15 minutes daily and keep your legs elevated while lying down . Doctor may also prescribe nerve supplement.
