Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Multiple Sclerosis

Hello. I have been diagnosed with Arnold Chiari Malformation, 13mm and symptomatic for 11 years now. Only treated for pain management as our only Neurosurgeon on our insurance says he will operate on me when I can't walk and not before. I have recently been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis due to changes on my MRI over the years. I was started on Rebif and have not adjusted well to it. I was sent to a new neurologist due to insurance changes and he advises he does not think that my brain lesions are from Multiple Sclerosis but from the headaches that are caused from the Arnold Chiari. I am very confused and have studied all available information on both diagnosis and they share a great deal in common. The M S medication is bad stuff I realize but if it will keep me from progressing any more then I will do it for my children. Is their a way to know one from the other or what is the best process of elimination since most symptoms are not seen but felt and related to the Dr....

Neurologist 's  Response
hi sir,
I am Dr Vinod Rai, a Neurologist.
Clinical course of disease and MRI brain are two most important things to differentiate between MS Vs ACM. I can help you better if i could have access to your MRI brain.

Neurologist Dr. Olsi Taka's  Response
Well it's a little hard to give a conclusive answer without the MRI. It would have been useful if you could have said something in more detail on the MRI report, how many lesions, their location, whether they enhance after contrast.
I am not aware of Chiari with headaches causing MRI lesions which can be confused with multiple sclerosis, so I am much more inclined to accept the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis.
