Suggest Treatment For Synovial Fluid Leakage

I had knee surgery because I had a torn medial meniscus, cartilage, and ligaments. After the surgery the ace wrap was put on too tight that caused a deep blood blister. Last night, I went to the ER and there is synovial fluid leaking out of the opened area. I see my surgeon tomorrow, but would like to know what might be done to stop the leaking fluid?

Hi,

Such surgeries are usually arthroscopic and the fluid leaking out is not the synovial fluid, it is simply the saline that is used to inflate the the joint during the surgery that leaks out afterwards. You need to apply waterproof sterile bandage like Mapelex over the joint to prevent infection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
