Suggest Treatment For Tingling Sensation On Foot After Injury
I ran my shin into a metal box 3 days ago. It hit about 2 inches below my knee. I have swelling on the inside of my calf and then again on the outside of my calf but near the shin bone. Both areas of swelling are not where I hit the metal box. Swelling is worse when walking. When keeping my leg elevated, I get an almost tingly sensation in my foot. The pain comes and goes in my shin - the more I m on it, the more it hurts. Going down stairs hurts. Always uncomfortable. Does this sound muscle related or otherwise?
Usually we recommend to apply cold compresses for the first 72 hours, then, alternating warm and cold compresses to reduce the edema (swelling). What is strange that the swelling is not where you hit the metal box. And, here we should rule out possible thrombus. So, better get it checked by your caring doctor, continue with alternating warm and cold compresses, and applying antalgesic cream. If you see bruising, apply heparin cream.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
