Suggest Treatment For Tiredness And Tingling Sensation On The Scalp

When you are taking medicines that have side effects, how long does it usually take for them to subside? I am taking Hydrochlorothiazide 25 MG once a day for high blood pressure and swelling ankles etc. I do have the tiredness and feel like my breath has been knocked out of me when I get up out of bed or a chair. Tingling on my scalp and hands. Thanks, Sandra

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Sandra,
If your on hydrochlorothiazide alone for Hugh blood pressure the next question will be for how long. Generally it takes about four to five weeks to tolerate any drug. High bp is a chronic disorder and monitoring is essential from time to time. If you have tingling and tiredness for a prolonged time then you can reevaluate with your physician for a change of drug as it is a notable side effect. Depending on your history its possible to use an ace inhibitor, beta blocker, duretics etc. Generally blood pressure is well controlled on a combination therapy of two or three drugs rather than a single one.
