Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
last nite it started a feeling of being punched in the upper abdomen under my sternum, I breath in it takes my breath away.. I have had open heart surgery a double bypass, my main artery to my heart was 80%blocked that was in june of 2012. the pain is a little less this afternoon, but it kept me awake most the nite. the surgeon used my mamorry artery instead of the leg, arm vein to correct this problem.. I ate peanut butter on toast before retiring to bed last nite.
Hi! Good afternoon. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.
With the history of a bypass surgery in the past, I would advise you to report in the ER of the nearest hospital to rule out any cardiac related problem as the origin of this pain. Till then, I would advise you to take a tablet of aspirin after some food, and a proton pump inhibitor drug. In addition, I would also give you one tablet of sublingual sorbitrate as a preventive drug in emergency till you see your doctor.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. I wish you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
