Aloha, I am 52 years old and my period has already stopped for almost 2 years now. I had a biopsy the other week due vaginal bleeding (only 2 drops of fresh blood). I just got the result of the biopsy yesterday. I don t really understand the explanation of my doctor. She said that the tissue she got from my uterus was benign but she said that it was inconclusive, hence she ordered an additional procedure like the ultra sound. She scheduled the ultra sound for me a month after. I usually have a yearly pap smear and the results are all negative. I had a biopsy, the same procedure in 2013 because I had a little heavy bleeding that time but it resulted negative. I was just told that it was still my period, although I haven t had the period then for more than 6 or 9 months. I was also told that I had fibroid but it was still small and there s no need to remove it. I remember when I was a little younger, about mid 25 s, my doctor said I had endometriosis and I had been taking hormones pills. The reason then was due to severe pains every time I had my period. When I got married (when I was 32), the thought of endemotriosis was gone; I forgot everything about it. The new doctors I consulted (OBGYN) never mentioned that I have endometriosis, It only came back now when I had this vaginal bleeding. Although it showed in my last pap smear that there was thickening of the lining. The general impression was negative of all possible cancer cells. My doctor didn t explain why I had thickening of the lining and the possible causes and effects. After this biospy incident, I got curious about the thickening of lining and started reading articles about it. And I now realized that it is something that I should not take lightly because the symptoms like vaginal bleeding could mean something else. Now, despite the doctor telling me it was benign, I am still worried because it might result to cancer in the future. Do you think, I really have to worry about this? Will it really result to cancer in the future? What does inconclusive mean in terms of biopsy results? I remember the doctor was telling me that she didn t know if she missed something when she did the biopsy (this scares me a lot), that s why she s ordering an ultra sound for me. What are your thoughts on this? I will appreciate so much if I could hear some words of wisdom from you. Thank you and have a great day!
