Hello, and I hope I can help you today.

Feeling sensitive and pain in the vagina while you are pregnant can have a number of causes.

First, you can just be sensitive because of the hormones of pregnancy or the pressure from the baby inside your vagina. This type of discomfort would usually pain during sex and not afterwards, which leads me to suspect another kind of problem.

In addition, the hormones of pregnancy can also make your vagina feel dry at certain times. Using an external lubricant during sex can reduce the chafing and make sex more comfortable and will not hurt the baby

Vaginal infections, especially of yeast, are common during pregnancy and can make the vagina burn and feel sensitive after sex. Your OB provider can diagnose an infection during a pelvic examination and recommend the right treatment for you, or in certain countries, creams can be bought in a pharmacy that are used to treat vaginal yeast infections and are not harmful during pregnancy.

I want to reassure you that it is extremely unlikely that these symptoms you are experiencing are due to any type of sexual infection. It is most likely due to common conditions during pregnancy. Trying a product to treat a vaginal yeast infection may clear it up, or for an accurate diagnosis, i would advise a pelvic examination by your OB provider.

I hope this information was helpful and answered your question.

Best wishes, Dr. Brown
