I had a cystiscopic today and I have varicose veins in my bladder. The doctor wants to repeat the procedure in October. If the veins get any larger he said he ll zap them. Can varicose veins in the bladder wall pose a problem?? I am a 72 year young woman in very good health.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Mam the varicosities in the bladder is not that common..It may be physiologically seen in elderly but still pathological causes of the same must be ruled out.
The pathological causes of the same like bladder infection called cystitis, any pelvic malignancy must be ruled out.
For the same imaging studies involving the pelvic organs like CECT abdomen must be done.
Mam in your case you must not worry and you must look for alarming signs like bleeding and pain
Repeat cystoscope would definitely help
