Suggest Treatment For Vertigo While On Cortisone Shot

Hi, I m 33 years old and I was diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension a few years ago. I get very light-headed when I stand and feel off balance most of the time. I think I have vertigo and feel like I m going to pass out. Could you give me advice on what to do. My doctor always says I have inflammation in my ears and just gives me a cortisone shot. But that s only a temporary fix, because I go back to being dizzy and out of it. Thank you!

Hello,

Avoid large carbohydrate-rich meals, limit alcohol intake, and ensure adequate hydration.

Keep a symptom diary and avoid identified precipitating factors. Consume a minimum of 1.25 to 2.50 L of fluid per day to balance expected 24-hour urine losses.

Also, abdominal and lower extremity compression helps to prevent postural hypotension. Lower-extremity physical exercise help strengthen muscles.

Therefore, avoid hypotension. Physical manoeuvres (e.g., squatting, bending at the waist). Sodium supplementation. These are the nonpharmacologic management of postural hypotension.

Pharmacological management includes the following medications:

Fludrocortisone, midodrine, and pyridostigmine (Mestinon), these are seen to be very effective for chronic orthostatic hypotension management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
