Suggest Treatment That Helps Relieve Radial Nerve Palsy
I woke up one day with what I now know is radial nerve palsy per the neurologist I saw, (he didn t do an eeg or emf, whatever that nerve test is), he merely said I slept on it wrong & sent my to OT. No one can tell me how long it ll take to heal, I m a hair dresser so I m out of work until this is healed. Is there any type of cortisone, steroidal shot I can get to help heal faster? I already see a pain Dr for my back but those are radio frequency shots. Should I ask my pain Dr if there is any kind of shot for this & how can you tell what nerve is pinched as when I went to ER all the did was c scan & stomach x ray to rule out stroke. Would am x ray even show the nerves or just bone, is an mri needed to tell which nerve is pinched, so the pain Dr knows our is it always the same nerve that causes this?
Nerve compression is many times a clear cut clinical diagnosis depending upon the disturbances with the sensation or deviation of wrist, motor function alteration etc. When the clinical diagnosis is sound enough, many experts do not require MRI unless there is need of surgical correction of nerve compression, in later case the requirement of an MRI is primary requisite. Steroid shots many times hamper the recovery of nerve compression and used as last resort to relieve inflammation and other symptoms and is not first line of therapy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
