Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have just been diagnosed with c5c6 mild to moderate right paracentral disc bulge indents the ventral thecal sac and approaches the ventral spinal cord without exerting mass effect Please explain the implications of this diagnosis and treatment options.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Mild to moderate disc bulge at the level of C5-C6 means that the intervertebral disc between vertebrae C5-C6 is bulging out. The bulging intervertebral disc is compressing the thecal sac and approaching the spinal nerves. Compression of the spinal nerves can cause neurological deficit in the region supplied by the spinal nerves. The management of the intervertebral protrusion is conservative consisting of rest and painkillers in case pain is experienced. If not treated in time, intervertebral disc prolapse can occur.
You need to consult your orthopedician for for further work up.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
