I have an annoying itch in what seems to be inside my urethra and my urine used to be really cloudy. I have started taking a lot of raw garlic lately (for fear of yeast infection) and have been drinking a lot of water and my urine has cleared up, but the itching in my urethra is still there and in some cases would start itching worse and worse almost at random. I am a 20 year old male, please help.

Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Itching in urethra can be due to urinary infection or fungal infection. Urine routine examination should be carried out to rule out urinary infection. If that is positive antibiotic therapy will help you. I usually start empirically with norfloxacin and send urine for culture and change antibiotic if necessary. If it is fungal infection then antifungal ointments like clotrimazole will help you. Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further queries. Thanks
