Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi . I have been diagnosed with pemphigus vulgaris and have been advised to avoid vigorous exercises which leads to excessive sweating and also to avoid sun exposure. I am a fitness addict and also a runner . How can i continue with my fitness regime and also avoid the flare ups of pemphigus ? thank you
As you have been diagnosed with Pemphigus Vulgaris skin blisters, mouth blisters are very common occurrence which can keep bursting and can turn into ulcers and if you donot pay proper attention to it it will keeps on increasing. I understand your fitness concern as being an athlete it would be difficult for you to avoid exercises, what you can do is very light exercises at your home that too at a cold place means where sun light should not be there. As sun light and heavy exercises will cause increased itching, blisters and ulcers formation.
You have to take a combination of cortcocosteroids, immunosuppresants, antiinflamatories as you doctor must have prescribed you.
Get Well soon and then continue with your fitness regimen. Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
