Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I began taking Levest combined contraceptive a number of days after my period and am on the first pack. I took the first 7 tablets on time and had unprotected sex before taking the 8th pill. Was I protected from pregnancy at this point, as the packaging for the pill suggests you wait 7 days before having unprotected sex?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
In case you had started your pills at least 7 days before your ovulation day (which falls 14 days before the coming menstruation). You are likely to be protected. Actually, contraceptive pills need to be taken from 5th day of periods, regularly at same time of day. A single pills to be consumed daily, this cycle to be continued till you don't want pregnancy regularly every month. This is for full proof contraception.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
