Suggest Vaccination For Dog Bite

Good Day! My 2 year old son was bitten by a family dog 5 days ago in our province here in the Philippines. That dog was vaccinated according to the owner. it was a superficial wound and we immediately wash it with soap and water after being bitten. it became slightly inflamed the next day. Until now the dog seems normal. do we need to let our son vaccinated with anti-rabies vax? how many shots does he need? please help.. thank you.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
If the dog is OK for 10 days after bite.
AS we can not predict what happens to the dog after 10 days, better start vaccine shots immediately as per schedule.
If the dog is OK after 10 days, you may stop giving further shots even if it is a very minor scratch.
WE can not take risk in view of the gravity of the disease.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
