General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Silver nitrate can cause irritation of the skin. I suggest to put a small amount of petroleum jelly, such as Vaseline on the skin around the tissue. This will help keep the silver nitrate from irritating the skin around the tissue.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
