Suggest Ways To Balance Hormones Post Intake Of Plan B
How can I balance out my hormones after taking Plan B? I am freaking out about the acne that has resulted from taking it less than a week ago (I have had clear skin for a couple months now, and I do regularly take birth control--Norgestimate. I had forgotten to take my BC a day and had unprotected sex, and so took Plan B as a precaution). Does being on birth control pills help speed my hormones re-balancing themselves?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive pill. It is taken to prevent unwanted or accidental pregnancy. What you have done is right as you need to take some form of birth control measure if you are irregular in taking usual birth control pills. Although Plan B is a hormonal preparation, it would cause alteration in hormone only for a short period (2 - 3 weeks), until it causes withdrawal bleeding. Also, hormone levels would reach to normal basal levels within 3 months after stopping birth control pills, and fertility would return back to normal. Hence, you need not be worried much about alterations in the hormones while you take such pills. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
