Suggest Ways To Manage A VP Shunt Fracture

i am 25 years old now i recieved my VP shunt for water on the brain at 3-4 years old it used to drain from my head to my stomach about two years or so ago it snapped in the middle of my neck the doctors said it had stopped working long before then is there anyway to remove it after this long without side effects or serious injury

Hello,

You have to confirm whether the shunt is patent or not. For that you need a an MRI with cine sequences, if it is non functional and you are free of symptoms, that implies you don’t require shunt and you are shunt non dependent. If you are non dependent, it can be removed easily by small incision behind ear, it can be done under local anesthesia.
