Suggest Ways To Manage Weight Gain And High Blood Sugar Levels
I was recently taken off of methotrexate and put on prednisone for sarcoidosis when the doctors discovered I have cirossis of the liver. After 30 days of the predisone I had a weight gain of over 25 lbs in less that two weeks. I was put on Lasix and Spironolactone, that didn t work, pulled off Lasix and left on Spironolactone and added Bumelanide for diuretics. My blood sugar has jumped to over 500 and up since being on these medicines. My insulin injections has risen from next to nothing and now am with 25 Humulog each meal and Lantus 30 at bedtime with no change in the numbers. Which on of these drugs could be doing this to me

Hi,
I feel it's prolonged high dose prednisone that you required that time. The rise in weight will not respond to diuretics (they are needful if you have kidney involvement with puffy face in the morning & putting edema feet in the evenings.
You should continue with the drugs to control your bone problem & sugar levels. A diet control as advised with physical exercises as per advice would be continued. The weight gain due to steroids would go with stopping of the drug. Please strictly follow the advice of your treating doctors.
