Suggest Ways To Solve Relationship Issues With A Bipolar Parent

I need help with a toxic relationship with my mother. I m 18 and she is treating me horribly. She has for the past ten years. I m trying to leave but honestly it feels like leaving an abusive relationship. I m horrified if I leave she will try to harm me or my family will disown me. She is bipolar and completely dependent on my family and they believe everything she says. She s a compulsive liar and manipulator. I not only need advice I need someone who can just listen to me and help me get through this. Please help!

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Was the bipolar disorder diagnosed already, and is she on any treatment? This needs a comprehensive approach. First, we have to confirm diagnosis and treat accordingly. kindly take her to a psychiatrist and psychologist. They will listen you carefully and address all your concerns. She might improve with psychotherapy and some drugs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
