Suggestions For An Alternative Antibiotic As Flucloxacillin Causes Stomach Sickness
Could you please suggest an alternative antibiotic. My husband has been prescribed flucloxacillin 1000mg qds, for an infected ulcer in his foot.. This high dose effects his stomach and makes him feel quite poorly.. I was hoping to ask our doctor for something else but would like to go armed with a suggestion

In which case, all the microbes need to be sensitive to that new drug. This can be discussed with your physician if tolerability is difficult for your husband.
Changing of antibiotic is usually not recommended unless the patient deteriorates more than the condition itself. Probably, have a watch on his diet if any food substances might be aggravating the nausea or any other condition he might be experiencing. A bland diet sometimes helps during treatment.
